Thunderbirds oops. Inside the cockpit.

This is from an air show in Idaho, 2003. The short story is that pilot did not account for the difference in MSL of the airports. In English, he trained at an airport in Nevada that was 1,000ft lower (compared to sea level) than Idaho. So when his altimeter said '2,500ft' he was really only 1,500ft above the ground, so when he got to the 'bottom' of his loop, he had a great view of the pavement.

Tex Johnston rolls the Boeing 707.

When a company builds a new airplane, they demo it to perspective buyers. They get good test pilots to fly them and the buyers are supposed to be so impressed that they order large numbers of planes. Tex did not tell Boeing what he was going to do. Needless to say, he got called to the bosses office later that day, but they sold a lot of planes!

Test of Non-Misting kerosene. Better luck next time.

Many people don't realize that Jet fuel is almost the same as kerosene. Scientists decided to come up with a version that would not 'mist' as much, and therefore would not burn as bad if there was ever a crash. This is how they decided to test out their new brew.

The amazing effect of wingtip vortices.

Airplanes leave 'invisible' trails of twirling wind that stream off their wingtips when they fly. Pilots are trained to fly 'Above, and Beyond' the trail of other airplanes. Especially bigger ones. i.e.: Cessna behind a 737 = disaster

F-4 vs. Concrete

To demonstrate the effects of an airplane hit on a nuclear reactor barrier. The F-4 Phantom never had a chance.

I don't know how.

This is a big file. 14MB. But it is pretty crazy. This is real, and there are other vid's of this guy doing similar things at other shows. I have no idea how he does it.

In the drivers seat.

Ok, this is a big file (18MB) but if you are a pilot, you will probably think it is cool. This is a flight into Funchal, Portugal. really cool runway, and it is fun to see it from the cockpit.

Dr. Evil would love this 'Laser' powered plane.

The concept is amazingly simple. And oh just think of the possibilities. Build a plane with an electric motor that runs on solar power. Point a laser at the solar cells to give it a 'super' light source. As long as you aim your laser at the plane it will fly. Cool.
